For starters, I didn't realize the statement needed to be submitted the day before class. I thought as long as it was before class it would be okay. So for that, I apologize and will submit future work the day prior to class. Okay. Once I knew we had to have a surreal aspect to it, I still wanted it to be similar or based off of my original idea. So I made a tiger with bees coming out of it's mouth. Personally, I enjoy the surreal GIFs where something is amiss like opening a door and Wonderland being on the other side or having the galaxy trapped in a fish bowl. I love tigers and have always wanted to do something based off of my childhood friend which was a giant white saber tooth tiger. I know, it's cheesy. So I took the opportunity to play around with that. In the end I decided on using a regular tiger and I wanted something odd to come out of its mouth during a yawn, just very casually. I thought it would be slightly funny to have tiny striped things come out of a larger striped thing and that's what led me to bees. I did think about using flies but that felt too grim and I wanted to keep it somewhat light hearted. For starters, I masked the tiger and bee onto a bamboo forest and made a few copies of the bee. I know the opening of the mouth looks so unnatural but their mouths pull back and wrinkle up when they yawn or roar so making that transition felt impossible to me. Aside from that I did the process of placing, saving as a JPEG, moving it a little, saving it as another JPEG, until I was finished. I then created the video timeline compiled of frames from layers. I'm happy with how it turned out aside from the mouth and particularly happy that it was more on the bright side in terms of theme.
